We have had a strange few months after the gigs and single release of February, and weren't really expecting to go quiet again straight after that, but the world had different plans for us musicians!
This week we were part of Sage Gateshead's Summer Studios which meant we could finally come together again to write and develop some new material. We were using our favourite local venue to rehearse, Cobalt studios, which was the last place we gigged together and we must have left some good vibes behind because we have created some music which we are really proud of - feels like turning over a new leaf for us musically!
Our week was mostly improvising and writing, but we also had the chance to speak to some really cool people about performance health, publishing, management and artist development. Our favourite thing was hearing all the other musicians at the end of the week and talking about their work.
We have just received the masters of our new EP back, which we recorded a couple of weeks ago with Ian Stephenson at Simpson Street Studios. It's sounding so cool! The copies are being printed right now - super excited to share some of our new music with you.
After a week of writing, arranging and recording, sorting out new merch and finalising venues and dates the countdown to our second tour is on! Check out our gigs page for dates and more information.
Can't wait to hit the road - hope to see some of you along the way!
We are super excited to announce that we are taking part in Hands up for Trad's Battle of the folk bands this spring. It will be held at Pleasance Theatre on the evening of 6th May and we will be playing alongside Joseph Armstrong Band, Eabhal, Eriska and SKNT GOAT - so it's bound to be a great night of music.
You can read a little more about the event and all the bands taking part here:
We can't wait to share some new music - hope to see some of you there!
2018 is off to a great start!
After a short quiet patch, we were reunited last weekend to support The String Sisters at The Sage, Gateshead and had a fabulous time - thanks so much to all the familiar and new faces that came along. After a couple of days of arranging and rearranging material we are very excited about the direction we are moving in!
Plans for the coming months are looking exciting too so watch this space!
Big thanks to The String Sisters and The Sage Gateshead for the honour of opening such an inspiring show! We tried our best to behave and control our inner fan girls... so here's a post-show picture of us with The String Sisters!
Here we go with our brand new website up and running and our brand new line-up pushing and heightening each other's creativity! We are super excited for what the next year brings - a few months of planning and writing lie ahead, getting us ready to hit summer festivals and get on the road with brand new material! Anna is off to Helsinki to study for a few months, so whilst we keep all the admin, arranging and writing ticking over, Jake Paterson, the fabulous fiddler from Perth will be depping for any gigs she can't make.
Here he is enjoying some fine dining.
Hopefully see you soon!
